Wahu's Musical style background (Source: Wahu's Bio):

In the past, Wahu’s musical style largely leaned towards the Kenyan hiphop beat known as (Kapuka), as is evident in songs such as sitishiki and kibowow. - Wahu took a back seat in 2005, to pursue other personal and career objectives.

She emerged late in 2007, presenting herself as a more mature, more rounded woman and musician, as was evident in the lyrical content of songs that she has released since then. “Mambo Bado” spoke of a woman who had gone through a difficult time and was now in the frame of mind to take on the world while Sweet Love spoke of love from a parent to a child (inspired by the birth of her own daughter in 2006).

The Sweet Love, went ahead to become on of the biggest songs in 2008, topping radio and TV music charts across East Africa. Due to the success of Sweet Love, Wahu went ahead to win numerous awards for Sweet Love including Best Come Back, 2008, Best Female Artist Kenya –CHAT awards, best Female artist Kenya – Pearl Music Awards and Best Female artist AFRICA at the Inaugural MTV AFRICA MUSIC AWARDS - She later on collaborated with Uganda’s Ghetto King, Bobby Wine on “Little things U do” a love story between a Ugandan boy and a Kenyan girl. The video went ahead and won the Shell Video of the Year in 2008.  In 2009, Wahu released Running Low, a slow, heartfelt song that revealed the vulnerability of a woman. She later remixed this song with Bongo superstar Chege, from the TMK group. Wahu also collaborated with yet another Tanzanian superstar AY, to remix his song Leo, which went ahead to win numerous accolades, including Best Raggae Tune KILIMANJARO AWARDS.

This year (2010) Wahu featured in TMKS’s Mkono Mmoja song, which went on to be a Bongo club banger, staying at the top of the charts for an enviable duration of time. For the past 6 months, Wahu has been in studio, working on new material that she plans to release during the second half of the year.

Looking at her track record, it is clear to say that after her re-emergence in 2007, Wahu hit the music scene with more fire, more energy and more zest than ever before, touring countries across the continent and across the globe, sharing stages with internationally renowned artists.
